Jack Plooij suggests Red Bull to ‘prioritize’ Max Verstappen ahead of Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen

Sergio Perez has been up there with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen in terms of putting together impressive performances and the driver’s standings is a fair indication of that. There had been races where he looked set to win but was marred by bad luck, eventually failing to do so. But, everything seemed to have fallen into place in the principality as he registered his first ever win in Monaco.

It was a statement win which saw him outqualify his team mate and eventually beating him in a race he has managed to finish. But, the most eye catching that happened was the fact that the Mexican was given the priority in terms of strategy unlike the case in Spain, where Max Verstappen was definitely on the better strategy. This had left Sergio Perez fuming after the race.

We can all agree that Max Verstappen is a more talented driver than Sergio Perez but the flip side of that situation is Sergio Perez is equally effective when it comes to delivering the results. This has left Christian Horner in a difficult situation, but this is a luxurious problem which he wouldn’t mind having. But, the Red Bull team Principal would have to set the pecking order so that at least one of their drivers have a stranglehold on the driver’s championship.

Max Verstappen should be Red Bull’s No.1 driver ahead of Sergio Perez, according to Jack Plooij

Sergio Perez might pose a real threat to Max Verstappen

This will not be an easy decision for Horner as both the driver have been firing on all cylinders. But, Jack Plooij is of a different opinion. When asked about the current situation at Red Bull, he said, “I think Red Bull should now state once and for all that Max is the first driver.

That would be very handy, then we will get rid of these discussions here at the table.”

“And it will also be clear for Perez,” as reported by gpblog.

The fans would want to see the two drivers at the peak of their powers fight it out for the bragging rights. But, Christian Horner’s priority would be to ensure that Red Bull wins both the championship after their pretty dry spell. It’ll be interesting to see how this situation unfolds.
