Lewis Hamilton, the former seven-time world champion, is one of the best drivers to have ever stepped foot into F1. He is still going strong in the sport and during the ongoing winter break, the Williams boss, James Vowles, has taken the time to shower immense praise on him.

James Vowles firmly believes that Lewis Hamilton has certain peculiar traits that are not seen in several of the other drivers. Vowles worked closely with the 39-year-old during his fruitful tenure with the Brackley-based Mercedes F1 team.

Hamilton has not been able to challenge for the world championship since 2021 but this has not stopped the Williams boss from applauding him. While speaking on the high-performance podcast, Vowles said, as reported by racingnews365:

Lewis just had these oodles of natural talent. With him he's got these tendencies and traits where, if you go out in FP1 he's like an octopus all over the wheel. He'll change every setting on the wheel and explore. It's what makes him incredible.

Looking at the reaction, it is quite clear that Hamilton has a knack for fiddling with things, especially during Free Practice 1. Moreover, Vowles has indicated that Hamilton’s habit is something that has helped him become the incredible driver he has become today.

Lewis Hamilton is desperate to have a crack at the record-breaking eighth world title

While James Vowles has left no stone unturned in applauding Lewis Hamilton, the latter has not had the most productive last two years. Under the current set of regulations, Mercedes has struggled to provide Hamilton with a championship-worthy car. In 2023, he finished in third place in the driver’s standings with 234 points.

The Brit is currently stuck on seven world titles alongside F1 legend, Michael Schumacher, and thus, he desperately wants to win an eighth to make the record his own. Moreover, with the hope of doing so in the upcoming years, he last year, signed a two-year contract extension at Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton has been competing in F1 since 2007 and as things stand, is currently the second-oldest driver on the grid. Considering this, it will be in his best interest if Toto Wolff and Co. are able to come up with a championship-worthy car in the upcoming years.
