Hamilton’s move came as a surprise to virtually everyone in the F1 paddock. Now, Williams Team Principal James Vowles has highlighted the massive challenge for the 39-year-old at Maranello.
Vowles reckoned that Hamilton would be able to question himself with this shock move to the Scuderia. The Williams team boss highlighted that it is the hardest thing for an individual to leave a comfortable environment to take up a new challenge. Lewis Hamilton has undertaken such an uphill task as the 39-year-old will leave the Silver Arrows to join Ferrari.

James Vowles claimed that such an ambitious move would push Lewis Hamilton to the limit. The 44-year-old was convinced that the seven-time world champion’s decision to join the most successful F1 team was good for the sport as a whole. Moreover, Vowles mentioned that Hamilton would be able to learn and challenge himself during his stay at Maranello.
[It] challenges you and pushes you to the limits, and that's Lewis all over. And so the fact he's doing it, I actually think it's good for the sport. It'll be good for Lewis because he'll learn from it and will challenge himself.
Lewis Hamilton set to fight for the title with Ferrari in 2025
Lewis Hamilton is the most successful F1 driver in history. However, the 39-year-old has struggled in the past two seasons with no race wins to his name. Hamilton will be staying with Mercedes for the upcoming F1 season. However, it seems that the seven-time world champion has put his bets on Ferrari for an unprecedented eighth F1 championship.

Mercedes is working extensively on its 2024 challenger. However, Lewis Hamilton might not be satisfied with the team’s direction in the long term. Subsequently, the 39-year-old believes that the Scuderia could be in a better position than the Silver Arrows to contest for the title in the coming years. Moreover, it must be noted that Hamilton’s Ferrari deal could be worth a staggering $430 million.
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton is one of the most important drivers in F1 history. However, the seven-time world champion would need to extract the most out of himself when he joins Ferrari next year. As such, fans would be waiting to see the sport’s most successful driver race in red.
