Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg recently signed contract extensions with Haas F1. Still, amidst their commitment to the team’s goals, the outfit had a horrendous outing at the famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza F1 circuit. Magnussen in particular, was very vocal about the VF-23’s problems at the event.
The Guenther Steiner-led team is currently in battle with the lights of Williams for the seventh place in the Constructors Championship. However, while the Grove-based team is going from strength to strength, Haas, on the other hand, has been falling backward. Its drivers could only manage a P17 and P18 finish in Monza.
Kevin Magnussen is extremely disappointed seeing the performance output of the VF-23, and while talking about his outing after the Italian GP, he told RaceFans, “It was probably the worst race as we just had no pace at all, the tires were falling apart, and there was no balance. We have a steep hill to climb.”
“It’s really confusing though because in FP3 we were P7, and today we were the slowest by a big margin. There was just no pace – we need to turn this ship around.” Looking at Magnussen’s comments, it is pretty clear that he is worried about the state of his team and wants its crew to do everything in their power to produce a better car for the remaining races.

Kevin Magnussen and Co. have got a lot of work ahead of them
While Kevin Magnussen has admitted that Haas has got a lot of work to do to produce better performances, it is not going to be easy for them, considering the massive step-up Williams has made in recent races. The FW45 has surprised many people up and down the F1 paddock and is expected to prove potent in the upcoming races as well.
However, the Haas F1 team can not be counted out just yet. they did pretty well during the initial/mid rounds of the first leg of the 2023 F1 season, and if they can get all their strategies, car-setups, and upgrades right, they could spring up a few surprises in the upcoming Grand Prix events.
With Monza out of the way, only eight races are remaining in the ongoing campaign, and considering everything that has been discussed above, all the events from Singapore onward hold a lot of significance for Kevin Magnussen and Co. It is high time that the Haas F1 team finds its lost form. Otherwise, they won’t be able to make any inroads into Williams 2023 charge.
