“Lando is destroying him,” Eddie Jordan tears into Daniel Ricciardo following his catastrophic and sub-standard start to the season
McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo
Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were supposed to be one of the best duos in F1 when Zak Brown signed the Australian from Renault. We all expected him to help out McLaren’s prodigy and replicate his performances from his time at Red Bull. We can say that the ‘honey badger’ had a decent season but that is because his win at Monza helped cover the average run of results and push him up in the driver’s standings.
But, it was understandable that he was taking his time to settle into a new team with a different way of working as compared to his old employers. This year was supposed to be the one when he marked his authority on the team but unfortunately, he has been dominated by his team mate, Lando Norris, in every race of the season. This shows that Daniel Ricciardo is struggling to come to grips with the car.
We all know how competitive the sport F1 is and if a driver is not at his best, he is always at a risk of losing that coveted seat to a more deserving candidate. There have been growing speculation around Daniel Ricciardo’s future with McLaren after Zak Brown expressed his unhappiness with his performance. Pierre Gasly could be the one to snatch this place after Sergio Perez signed a contract extension with Red Bull.
Eddie Jordan lays down the facts for Daniel Ricciardo following his bad start to the season
Eddie Jordan has laid into the Australian after an unbelievably start to his season. In one of his interviews, he said, “He’s letting races flow by, and you very seldom get a chance to claw this back.”
“I think I’d be watching his career path from now on, because I’m not sure how much further he can go.”
“Lando is destroying him, mentally, physically and on the track,” Jordan continued.
“And when you have that kind of a scenario inside of a team, it gets to you.“
“So he needs to shake it up immediately,” as reported by planetf1.
Time is running out for this hugely talented driver from Australia and if Daniel cannot shrug it off quickly enough, he might be shown the door by Zak Brown.
