After Daniel Ricciardo’s exit from McLaren at the end of 2022, Lando Norris was teamed up with F2 champion Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris has formed remarkable relationships with his teammates in Formula 1. With barely a few months of knowing each other, Norris claims he has a good relationship with his Australian teammate.

Lando Norris mentioned to Racing365.com that he gets along well with his teammate, considering him a talented and competitive partner. He highlighted the mutual respect and trust they have already developed. Norris stated that he values being a good teammate and prefers to have a positive relationship, putting effort into making it work effectively.

“We get on really well, he is extremely good, a competitive, good teammate. I think we’ve already built up a good amount of respect and trust towards one another. I feel like I am just a good teammate, I prefer to get along with my teammates than not,” the McLaren driver said.

Teammate rivalries in Formula 1 have long been a captivating aspect of the sport, where friendships can quickly transform into fierce competition. Pursuing top positions on the grid often intensifies team dynamics, leading to bitter relationships. McLaren driver Lando Norris to is of the same belief regarding his new teammate Oscar Piastri.

In the same interview, Norris acknowledged that he and his teammate have the team’s best interests at heart. He mentioned that when racing for first and second positions, the dynamics can undergo significant changes. However, he added that currently, it doesn’t matter much to him if they finish 15th and 16th, emphasizing a change in perspective.

“We have both got the best interests at heart for the team, when you get to race for first and second, that’s when things can change a huge amount,” Norris explained. “But now, whether one of us finishes 15th and 16th, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter that much to me,” he concluded.

After an average start to the season, McLaren is placed at P6 in the championship at 17 points. Lando Norris scoring 12 points this season, is in 11th place. Rookie Oscar Piastri, after scoring his maiden F1 points in Australia, is at five points in 14th position.
