Pierre Gasly ended his long-term relationship with the Red Bull family. He moved from AlphaTauri (Red Bull’s sister team) to Alpine for the 2023 season, concluding his long career with Red Bull. Laurent Rossi, the CEO of the BWT Alpine F1 team, Gasly’s new boss, had nothing but praises for the French man.
Rossi revealed his thoughts on Pierre Gasly in the sports podcast, F1:Beyond the Grid. The CEO said he would have signed Gasly even if he wasn’t French. Alpine is the only French team with French drivers on the grid. This will gain them an advantage with the French media. Rossi mentioned that he had a good impression of Gasly right from the start.
The Alpine boss stated, “Gasly is very motivated, incredibly motivated. I think he realizes that it’s a great opportunity and, to be honest, it is potentially a critical point in his career”. Rossi believes that Gasly has more to offer and works extremely hard. He hopes his two drivers will take the team forward. Age plays a significant role in Formula one. The older the drivers get, the harder it will be to find a seat. Talent is the only thing that will keep the drivers on the grid.

Pierre Gasly joined his karting rival Esteban Ocon at Alpine for 2023
Rossi revealed that the 27-year-old is very mature. Gasly is aware that this is one chance to prove himself in Formula One. He has a winning mentality, but apart from that, his physic also plays a vital role. The Alpine CEO stated, “I don’t know if you’ve seen him right at the end of his physical prep. It was just impressive. He was as wide as Esteban is tall. Pierre is extremely athletic. There’s no secret about the fact that he could have been a professional football player. He’s amazing”.
The 2023 Formula 1 season is underway. Pierre Gasly finished P9 after several overtakes at the Bahrain GP. He gained 11 positions, and it was a good start for the team. Gasly showed his skills on his Alpine debut. His teammate, Esteban Ocon, on the other hand, had a bad race. He suffered several penalties, and his race ended early.
Though there were rumors of bad blood between the French duo, they seemed to get along well. The drivers need to work together to take the team forward. Last season, Alpine finished fourth in the constructors with 173 points. The team was ahead of McLaren. They dominated the midfield. Though the team lost Fernando Alonso for the 2023 season, they gained Pierre Gasly.
