The world of Formula 1 has gone through significant changes in the last few years. While the sport has evolved massively, the recent approval of the Andretti Group F1 bid by the FIA has led to the opening of a whole new prospect. While a lot has already been said about Michael Andretti’s F1 push, the Aston Mattin Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll, has admitted that there is no need for an additional team on the F1 grid.
Lawrence Stroll thinks that F1 is in a period of boom and is working perfectly with the current set of teams. Thus, he ardently feels that having another team on the grid at the pinnacle of motor racing will disrupt the smooth flow of operations achieved. Stroll is in no way in favor of having the Andretti group in F1 in the coming years.
While shedding light on his thoughts regarding the Andretti bid, he told Sky Sports, “I think F1, at the moment, the business is on fire, the sport has never been in a better place, and I believe if it isn’t broken, you don’t need to fix it. So, I’m a strong believer that it’s working really well with 10 teams right now, and believe that’s the way it should stay.“
He added, “There’s never been more fans, spectators at races, the audience is the highest it’s ever been, I continue to see substantial growth, particularly in the United States, which is the largest consumer market in the world.” Looking at the comments of the business tycoon, it is quite clear that he is not a big fan of Andretti’s F1 push.
Lawrence Stroll has immediate concerns to worry about at Aston Martin
While Lawrence Stroll has clarified his thoughts regarding the prospect of having an additional F1 team, he has bigger things to worry about at the Aston Martin F1 team in 2023. The Silverstone-based team kicked off this year’s campaign on a high note and was able to challenge the mighty Red Bulls to some extent during the initial part of the season.

However, as the season is ending, Fernando Alonso and Co. have run out of gas, and the AMR23 has not been able to produce enough performance. Since the last few Grand Prix events, Aston Martin has struggled massively and has been unable to rack up solid points. They are currently fourth in the standings and are in danger of slipping to fifth.

The Lando Norris-led McLaren F1 team is right on their heels. If the green-colored outfit cannot provide Alonso and Lance Stroll with potent machinery for the remaining races, there is every chance that they will get overtaken by the Woking-based team. The upcoming six races hold immense significance for Lawrence Stroll and Co.
