Scuderia Ferrari registered a positive result for the first time this season at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. They finished third and stepped on the podium, courtesy of their superstar Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque had struggled to make a significant impact all season, and finally scored some good points in Baku. Thanks to Ferrari’s upgrades.
Being fourth fastest on the grid is not sufficient for a team of their stature. They utilized the 4 week gap to work on their machinery. The result showed, with Leclerc taking pole for both the race and the sprint. Ferrari was quicker than Mercedes and Aston Martin. Charles Leclerc, courtesy of his mediocre start to 2023, was at the center of rumors. It was about his departure to either Mercedes or Red Bull to fulfill his championship dreams.
However, speaking to BILD sport, when interviewed, Leclerc had a confident answer to this conjecture. He was asked if he could win the title with Ferrari. He insisted, “Yes. When I dream of one day being world champion, I imagine myself wearing a red racing suit and getting out of a red car. Not every driver can say it openly, but I think every Formula 1 driver would love to drive for Ferrari. So I can consider myself lucky to be part of Ferrari.”
When inquired on his prospects of leaving the team in red for Red Bull to pursue the title that has evaded him so far, he insisted, “I do not believe that.” His commitment is admirable and his loyalty is evident. He has now cemented himself at Ferrari and has committed himself to winning a championship with the team, as it is his dream.

Ferrari have begun their push for the title in 2024

Big changes are taking place at Scuderia Ferrari, in response to the disappointment the team endured so far this season. Their car, despite out-qualifying the grid at Baku, lacks race pace. Charles Leclerc was overtaken by the Red Bulls multiple times. Leclerc also barely held off Fernando Alonso, who looked to be catching them in the closing laps.
The team was rumored to be targeting the likes of Adrian Newey, the Chief Technical Officer at Red Bull, to be the solution to their future cars. However, with his announced extension at Red Bull, this was out of the question for Ferrari. In response, the team have hired 2 engineers from Milton-Keynes, both of whom start their tenure in 2024.
This is an indication of the team’s seriousness to get back to the front of the grid, to facilitate their championship endeavors once again. The team knows that once Leclerc has a car good enough to compete with the likes of Red Bull, he will no doubt pressurize Max Verstappen. He would put up a good fight for title, with his incredible gifted abilities.
This major restructuring at Maranello is also a testament to their desire to be back at the top, no matter what. They have hired upto thirty engineers from other teams over the course of the past three seasons.
They are also reportedly looking to poach over a dozen of Red Bull’s engineers for the next year. Ferrari will stop at nothing when it comes to putting their star Charles Leclerc on top, making him win the title in red.
