Sir. Lewis Hamilton recently penned his new agreement with Mercedes after months of talks between the parties. Even though Mercedes and Hamilton had stated on several occasions that they wanted to continue together, things had started to look bleak due to the long delay in agreeing. Now, shortly after the saga is done and dusted, Hamilton shows no signs of stopping as he claims that he is already thinking about his situation after 2025.
After missing out on his eighth world championship in 2021, which would have put him above Michael Schumacher for the number of championships won, Hamilton revealed his goal remains the same for the remainder of his contract, that is, to win the WDC. He reaffirmed his faith in the team as he claimed that they are still capable of returning to their winning ways in the constructors’ championship as well.
Hamilton will be 40 years old when his new contract runs out. But age does not seem to bother him as he has admitted to having already been thinking about his new contract with Mercedes. However, he kept other options open as he said his priorities could change, and it is impossible to tell what would happen so far ahead.
“In terms of long-term, I’m thinking about my next contract – what that will look like, how long that will be. I plan to be here for a while. But it could change. I could come back next year and be like ‘damn it’. Who knows?,” Hamilton told Sky Sports F1 (H&T: Silver Arrows).

Lewis Hamilton indirectly hits back at F1 legend for claiming he has no ‘hunger’ to fight for championships
Former F1 driver and legend Sir Jackie Stewart did not pull his punches on Lewis Hamilton after his contract renewal with Mercedes was announced. Stewart downplayed all of his achievements with Mercedes as he recalled Hamilton losing the championship to Nico Rosberg in 2016. He claimed that Rosberg had a ‘hunger’ to become world champion, which Hamilton now lacks.
Hamilton was just as ruthless as Stewart in his comments as he indirectly called him ‘short minded’ during an interview with BBC Breakfast. He claimed that Stewart does not know the work that goes into winning each championship, and he further claimed that he would want to be an inspiring role model for young drivers in the future, unlike Stewart.
