The seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton has not had a pleasing start to his 2022 campaign. The British driver had a disappointing weekend at Imola with finishing the race in P13. Lewis Hamilton had made a habit of consecutive podiums and pole positions before kicking off his 2022 campaign. At the Imola Grand Prix, the driver found himself in uncharted territory by fighting against the end tail of the mid field teams and unable to make any impact. Lewis Hamilton finished P14 in the sprint race, also depicting a poor performance.

The 2021 season ended in a sour manner for Lewis Hamilton with the championship being snatched away from him on the last lap of the race. The result speculated the retirement of the Brit from Formula 1, but he returned more motivated than ever to have a strong season. Reporter, Ted Kravitz explained this by saying “Lewis is certainly annoyed and thinking about his future. However, Hamilton wants revenge for Abu Dhabi 2021 and this is not the way he wants to end his career. At the moment, he can still wait and hope that things will get better. He is still happy within the team.”

George Russell P5 Finish Rubbed Salt in Lewis Hamilton’s Wound

The Mercedes team under the new rules and regulations do not have a competitive package so far in the season. This had made the W13 car fall behind extensively to the rivals. However, George Russell was able to bag a P5 finish out in Imola and delivering an exceptional result as per the current car performance. This did not help Lewis Hamilton in the slightest as the seven time world champion did not seem to have a single answer against the competitors.

Lewis Hamilton did not want the 2021 season finale to describe his career and started the 2022 season terming that the best of his is yet to come. Ted Kravitz expanded on this saying ”I also don’t think he’d want a season of failure, which this will probably end up being, to define him either. So Hamilton will still want to keep going and hope for improvement from his team.”

The current season of Formula 1 under the new rules and regulations is dictated by a car development race. Lewis Hamilton who currently sits 7th in drivers championship is patiently waiting for upgrades to his W13 car with a hope of change in his fortunes.
