Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time world champion. However, the Briton’s maiden 2008 world title is at risk. The 2008 runner-up, Felipe Massa, lodged a legal fight against Formula 1 to overturn the results of that year’s championship. At the start of the Singapore GP weekend, Hamilton finally spoke up on this issue of potentially losing his first F1 world title.
Previously, Massa had asked the Mercedes driver to support his lawsuit as part of an attempt to seek justice. However, the 38-year-old clarified that he is not concerned about the past. The Briton made it clear that this case lies entirely on Felipe Massa. He said, as reported by Motorsport.com, “If this is the direction Felipe wants to take, it is his decision. But I prefer not to focus on the past.”
The seven-time world champion insisted that he remains unbothered about incidents in the past, be it over a decade ago or just a few days back. Lewis Hamilton mentioned that he was completely focused on the present as the Briton tried to help Mercedes get back to the front of the grid. The 38-year-old said, “Be it 15 years ago, two years ago, three days ago. I am only interested in the present and focused on helping my team this week.”

The Singapore GP has been a mixed bag for Mercedes in recent years. The tight and twisty Marina Bay Circuit gives an advantage to more downforce-oriented set-ups. As such, Hamilton believes it is unclear how the Silver Arrows will perform this weekend. Although, the Briton hoped to get the most out of the car in every session.
Lewis Hamilton stated, “It is not a clue where Mercedes has been so successful in recent years, but I am still hopeful. All we have to do is make the most of each session and work together as a team.” However, the British driver knew that Red Bull was expected to be the favorite in the city-state as the Milton Keynes-based team continues its dominant run this season.
Lewis Hamilton has won the race on more than one occasion. However, repeating such a feat might be a challenge for the Briton, with the Mercedes W14 still struggling to match the Red Bull RB-19. However, fans would look forward to seeing Hamilton try and push the car to the limit to challenge Milton Keynes.
