American film legend, Brad Pitt, has been visiting the paddock in Austin. Why? He is working on a movie about Formula 1. Others involved with the project are Joseph Kosinski (who is also visiting the paddock), director of Top Gun: Maverick and Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced both Top Gun films, in addition to many others, such as Pirates of the Caribbean.

And of course, there’s Lewis Hamilton. As per RaceFans, The Briton said the team have put together something incredible: “What we’ve been able to put together so far, team-wise, is pretty incredible. I’ve got Tim Cook [Apple CEO, distributor of the upcoming film] here this weekend, it’s such an honour to have him with us.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group, is also very excited about the movie, which he sees as the logical next step in increasing the sport’s global reach and outlook. Moreover, all the drivers on the grid will be involved with the movie, which is an incredibly exciting prospect.

Speaking to Autosport, Domenicali revealed a few details about the project: “We are already planning all the activity and the activation that needs to be done in a real race weekend, we’re going to start in the second half of the season for the production. We are still working on the details, because it’s just the start of the plan, but you will see it will be quite interesting, I would say.”

Domenicali further said that Lewis Hamilton will keep the movie ‘authentic’, and that the Briton loves the project. He also said that movies will be part of what Formula 1 will be doing to attract new audiences in the future, as the sport seeks to diversify, not only on the calendar and in talent, but also in marketing.
