The craze and fan-following for F1 has been ever-growing since its inception with the popular Netflix series Drive To Survive. Hence, after the success of the docuseries, Apple is now making a film based on Formula 1 starring the likes of Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. F1 icon Lewis Hamilton is a producer in this massive project and has mentioned the expectations for the film.

The Briton asserted that the movie was a huge step in the direction of broadening the horizons for F1. Additionally, Hamilton also claimed that the new leadership with Liberty Media and the great work done by Stefano Domenicali was also applauded by the 38-year-old. He also praised the Liberty Media CEO over the new experiments done by the sport for its popularity.

The movie is a huge step in that direction of broadening the horizon, I think that's really part of the new leadership, with Liberty, with the great work that Stefano [Domenicali] and [Liberty Media CEO] Greg [Maffei] are doing in being open to trying new things.
Hamilton said, as reported by racingnews365.com.

The Formula 1 calendar is spread out all over the globe and features multiple nations during a single season. Hamilton pointed out this fact and emphasized that F1, being a truly global sport, required educating an increasing number of people about it. Additionally, the movie would also help the fans catch the ‘F1 bug’ according to the seven-time world champion.

It is the only truly international or global sport, and so we need to educate more and more people in it. There are still many people out there we’ve got to get to catch the bug, and there's plenty of growing to do.

Lewis Hamilton pondered over American F1 races

The American races of the 2023 calendar received a huge spotlight. This was obvious as the movie aimed to cater to the American sports and fanbase. As a result, it will likely increase the popularity of F1 there. The inaugural Las Vegas GP would play a great role in the movie due to the importance given to that track during the shooting of the film.

Lewis Hamilton pointed out that each race in America has a different atmosphere and applauded the fan base at every circuit. Additionally, the Briton claimed that F1 always needed more than one race in the USA because of the awkward timings for the fans during an American weekend of Formula 1.

Hence, the creation of a movie starring one of the biggest American actors would surely propel the popularity of F1 in the minds of Americans. Therefore, the movie would be worth the hype and bring in even more fans to the sport. It remains to be seen if the sport can attract a larger following in the US in the coming years.
