7-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is a target for German former Formula One driver Ralf Schumacher. Hamilton, according to the German, is the big loser this season, and Schumacher now sees Hamilton’s past accomplishments very differently.

Hamilton has battled for the world title every season for the past eight seasons, winning six of them. This helped bring him seven world titles, putting him on level with legendary former F1 driver Michael Schumacher. However, the brother of the man with whom he shares the most world titles is critical of the Briton.

Lewis Hamilton is the big loser of the season so far. George Russell was new to the team at the start of the season and is usually ahead of the runner-up world champion and is also stronger in qualifying. The “greatest driver of all time”, as Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff always calls it, is ironed out by a newcomer in a way that is already worrying. I’m amazed, because there are only two options: Either is Russell the new high-flyer, or Hamilton had such a strong car in recent years that has made up for a lot,” said Schumacher.

After the race, Schumacher reflected on comparing Hamilton and teammate Russell’s performance. Hamilton and Russell both drive the very same W13, but Hamilton proceeded to walk out in markedly more distress than Russell. ‘Russell was in the same car and George looked rather fresh to me after the race. Lewis should first see that he is faster than his team-mate. I’m sorry for Lewis that he has a backache but other teams are tackling the problem as well,” said Schumacher.

On the flip side, where you would foresee Russell to endure the most from wobble due to his extremely large height for an F1 driver, it was Hamilton who just hardly got out of the car. Schumacher speculates that Hamilton’s seat position may be distinctive.

The 20 drivers of the 10 teams on the grid will reassemble from 17 June-19 June for the much-awaited Canadian Grand Prix which is going to be conducted in the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
