As the Saudi Arabian GP is under its way, Lewis Hamilton was seen significantly struggling on Thursday. So on Friday, Hamilton moved to a larger wing, which increased stability but added time to the straights. In the first two qualifying sessions, he placed eleventh and tenth, and in the third, he finished eighth, trailing teammate George Russell.
After the launch and pre-season testing of the Mercedes W15, both drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton seemed to be content with the car. However, during the Bahrain GP, they were seen struggling a bit with their cars. They had looked forward to working on them, to have a better racing weekend at the Saudi Arabian GP, but the qualifying results say otherwise. While speaking to the media after the qualifying Hamilton said,
It wasn't a really good qualifying at all. I really struggled with the car yesterday, and then FP3 I was really much happier with the car, with a slightly bigger wing, but I was losing two-tenths in the straight.Lewis Hamilton said via autosport.com.
But I gained some stability back, and I was I was much, much happier, and I thought I would carry that into qualifying. But unfortunately, the bouncing is still there.
According to Hamilton, the Bouncing trait of the car makes it really difficult to push through the first sector. He believes that they have a better challenger than last year, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. When it comes to race on Saturday he has decided to play it cool and try scoring as many points as possible.
