The season begins again with this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. The three-week or so’s break between the Hungarian Grand Prix and this weekend must have felt like forever for fans of the sport, and there is going to be much anticipation for the event. Belgium is a well-loved race weekend, after all.

Last year’s race had been disappointing, to say the least. There was barely even a race, with the drivers only completing 3 laps behind the safety car and then the session being red-flagged. Nothing will ruin fans’ day more, especially as Belgium’s future on the Formula 1 grid is rather uncertain.

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton will come into the race with hope: Hope that they can truly get closer to the frontrunners this time and that perhaps with the help of the technical directives, they can compete for the victory. Time will tell if they can do that, but Lewis Hamilton is looking forward to being back in the paddock nonetheless.

There has been no shortage of friction between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, but the vast majority of that is between the fandoms. Most of the time, they can be seen fighting with each other on any social media, anywhere they can. There have also been some repulsive incidents.

When Max Verstappen crashed in last year’s British Grand Prix after contact with Lewis Hamilton, some fans were heard cheering. When Lewis Hamilton crashed in qualifying in Austria this year, some Dutch fans cheered as well. This is clearly too far. However, Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t seem to be holding any grudges.

Belgium is the country of Max Verstappen’s birth, and it also borders the country he represents, with the track being located just around 50 kilometres from the border. One can expect a solid retinue of Verstappen’s ‘Orange Army’ to arrive in the audience for this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. However, Hamilton does not mind at all.

In a recently surfaced video on social media, Lewis Hamilton was seen on stage with George Russell thanking the fans for being there: “I just want to say, thank you so much for the continued support. You know the respect I have for all of the fans, no matter who you’re supporting, we’re all here together as a community.”

Lewis Hamilton is clearly happy to be back from the summer break. Of course, he would have been happy during it too, as this time, the Briton journeyed through Africa tracing his roots, with him terming his experiences as a ‘life-changing reset’ It may also help his performances, and fans would certainly love to see Hamilton become an even better version of himself.
