Lewis Hamilton was ready to ‘go to jail’ for sporting the LGBTQ rights-themed helmet in the 2021 Qatar GP

Lewis Hamilton, the former 7-time F1 World Champion, has come forward and openly talked about the concerning issue of human rights and why he wore a rainbow-colored helmet in the 2021 Qatar GP. He is the flag bearer in F1 as far as standing up for human rights is concerned, and he has once again come forward and has spoken wholeheartedly on the subject matter.

Since his debut at the pinnacle of motor racing, Lewis Hamilton has never shied away from stating his opinions on controversial matters. The Brit has done it once again, and while talking about the importance of human rights in today’s society, he said, “Women’s rights, LGBT rights – there are laws that restrict people from being their true selves. I have always been a risk-taker. ‘I am going to do this whether or not they throw me in jail.“

“I don’t care what they are going to do, I am going to stand for something I believe in even if it kills me. I know it sounds mad but like… ‘I need to do this’ to show people how important it is and spark those conversations out there, put those in power on edge and feel like they need to have conversations about making change because it brings negativity to their country. I did it and I won the race. My drive was like ‘I have got to get to the top of the podium because then that will make the biggest bang that I did.” Lewis Hamilton, with his comments, has tried his best to urge the decision-makers to accept people as they are and not use force in order to make people act in a certain way.

Moreover, while stressing the importance of human rights, the Brit has even highlighted his rainbow-colored helmet, which he wore during the Qatar GP of 2021. He has indicated that he is proud of what he did and will keep acting as per his beliefs, no matter what someone does to him. He is not afraid of anyone and will keep using his global reach to spread the message supporting human rights.

Lewis Hamilton has been raising his voice in F1 for several years

While Lewis Hamilton, with his recent comments, has brought the human rights saga into the limelight, this is not the only cause he has stood up for since making his debut in F1. Over the year, he has raised his voice against many injustices that have taken place in the World and has very passionately spoken about it.
