Lewis Hamilton has always been very vocal about the major role that his parents have played in his life. The 39-year-old recently wished his biological mother, as well as stepmother on the occasion of International Mother’s Day. Hamilton’s father, Anthony Hamilton is also a very positive man as he recently opened up about a ‘life changing’ experience for him.

Lewis Hamilton came from very humble beginnings. Anthony Hamilton shared their story in a recent interview. Hamilton Sr. was quizzed about a life-changing moment for him. The 53-year-old asserted that meeting Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards when Lewis Hamilton was just ten years old was a life-changing moment. Hamilton’s father recalled how his son went to Ron Dennis and mentioned his dreams of racing for McLaren and how Dennis gave them his number for a conversation years later.

One of the biggest experiences I think, was meeting Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards when Lewis was just about 10 years of age. Lewis went up to Ron and said “one day I want to race for McLaren,” and Ron said “here’s my number, come back in 9 years time.

Additionally, Hamilton Sr. opened up about how he had an ordinary job in the beginning and was clueless about where the karting world could lead him. The Englishman worked four jobs at once just to faciliate the seven-time world champion’s career in karting. The 53-year-old claimed that god put people in the right place at the right time. Apart from this, Dennis asking the dad-son duo to call him after nine years made Lewis Hamilton work even harder to finally achieve his goal of racing in F1 in his life.

I just had an ordinary job, we had no idea where the karting would lead us. It was an opportunity where… I believe God puts you in the right place at the right time. When someone like Mr Dennis says call me in nine years time, you work hard to make sure you achieve those opportunities and maximise your dream.

Anthony Hamilton recalled troubling times in his life

Hamilton Sr. recalled his younger days where nothing positive happened in his life. Anthony Hamilton’s mother passed away when he was just 16 years old. Additionally, the 53-year-old struggled finding a job back then. But things started turning positive and life started to turn positive for him. Hence, Lewis Hamilton’s career in Formula 1 also turned into a great success following his father’s struggles.

When I was younger, nothing positive ever happened for me. Seriously. My mum died when I was 16, I left home, I’m struggling to find a job, find somewhere to live. And then positive things start to happen, and then your life starts to change positively.

Hamilton Sr. never gave up on his son’s career and hence brought him the great success that he is today. Hence, Lewis Hamilton did not leave any stones unturned in juicing out the potential from his father’s struggles. The 39-year-old is an F1 maestro and a great human being overall, majorly due to his humble background and struggles.

Lewis Hamilton continues to make great strides in Formula 1 world. The driver has won the World Championship on seven different occasions and continues to make great career choices. The Briton made a late-career move and will move to Ferrari from the coming season and continue his impressive performance in F1.
