Lewis Hamilton, the former 7-time F1 world champion, is the greatest driver to have ever competed at the pinnacle of motor racing. None of the other drivers have the kind of records he has and while the sport is currently at a halt, it has come to light that Hamilton’s first Grand Prix win suit has been sold for a whopping $241k.
Lewis Hamilton scored his first-ever F1 Grand Prix win with the McLaren team in 2007 at the Canadian Grand Prix. As per Crash, RM Sotheby’s conducted a recent auction where the Brit’s suit was sold for $241K. He initially purchased the suit for $83,000 and thus, made an incredible $158,000 profit after the auction.
Sotheby was asked to share his thoughts on the significance of Hamilton’s Canadian GP race suit. While talking about the same, he said as reported by Crash.net;
The 2007 Canadian Grand Prix remains a pivotal moment in Lewis Hamilton's career, etching his name in Formula 1 history and setting the stage for a legacy that continues to evolve, leaving an indelible mark on the sport and inspiring generations of racing enthusiasts worldwide.
Looking at the comment of Sotheby, it is quite clear that while he is pleased with the smooth conduct of the auction and the handsome money he has wracked up, he ardently feels Hamilton’s 2007 Canadian GP race suit holds immense significance in the world of the pinnacle of motor racing.
Lewis Hamilton wants to set the ultimate record
While RM Sotheby has made decent bucks after the sale of Lewis Hamilton’s 2007 Canadian GP race suit, one of the main reasons why the latter is still competing in F1 is to win a record-breaking eighth F1 world championship. He is currently the joint holder of the record with Michael Schumacher.
Hamilton has achieved pretty much everything that there is to conquer at the pinnacle of motor racing. He is an absolute legend of the sport and while his accolades are already staggering, he still wants to have one last crack at the world title before bringing the curtain down on his illustrious career.

Lewis Hamilton is currently 38 years old and is contracted to Mercedes until the end of the 2025 F1 season. He is still at the top of his game and considering everything, the onus is really on Toto Wolff and his team to present Hamilton with the right tools in the upcoming years of the sport.
