The 2023 Qatar Grand Prix is well underway, but the event has already ended for Lewis Hamilton. Going into Turn1, the Mercedes maestro collided with his teammate, George Russell, and went into the gravel to beach his W14. While his exploits ended at that moment, Russell is still counting in the race and trying to make up as many places as possible.
Lewis Hamilton arrived in Qatar with the intention of closing the gap to Sergio Perez in the driver’s world championship. However, since his abrupt crash, that has gone out of the window, and he is watching the 54-lap race from the Mercedes garage. While Hamilton is disappointed, the fans from all over the world have poured X with their reactions.
The fans of the pinnacle of motor racing are very well aware of what was on the line for the 38-year-old during the ongoing Qatar GP. Hamilton had a golden chance of scoring some strong points from his P3 starting position, but the way the event ended for him, the fans have not been able to stop themselves from coming up with unique reactions.

Lewis Hamilton has got five races remaining to close the gap to Sergio Perez
While Lewis Hamilton has lost out on the opportunity of closing the points gap to Sergio Perez at the Lusail International Circuit, after the ongoing event, there are still five races remaining on the 2023 F1 calendar. These events could be enough to close the gap, keeping in mind the horrendous form of the Red Bull driver.
As things stand, the former 7-time world champion has managed 190 points in the season, whereas Perez is currently on 223. The gap between the two is not huge at the moment but could extend further if Perez can score some points during the ongoing Qatar event. Currently, he is running out of the points scoring positions.

Lewis Hamilton has done a tremendous job behind the wheel of the unpredictable Mercedes 2023 car so far and has already exceeded several expectations. However, despite this, he is fully determined to score as many points as possible and, ideally, finish the campaign on an extremely strong note by finishing in second place in the driver’s standings.
