New Zealand’s Liam Lawson had quickly made an impression in Formula 1. The rookie scored maiden points in his third-ever race in Formula 1 and outshined his teammate Yuki Tsunoda in a few aspects. Despite his amazing short stint with Alphatauri, they opted him out of the team’s drivers lineup for next season.

Since then, they have shifted Lawson to reserve-driver duties for both the Red Bull teams. The Kiwi claimed his goal was to be in F1 and talked about his job conditions at Red Bull. Liam Lawson aims to prepare for any challenges, regardless of the job conditions for the next year.

Obviously I want to be racing, but the goal is to be in F1, It’s never nice to only be able to watch, but I’ll try and make the most of the opportunity, as I have been doing up until now, to prepare.

Lawson told motorsport.com.

The 21-year-old rookie claimed that although he would like to race in a car, Red Bull’s decision was the final call for Lawson. He also talked about his preparation and added that Red Bull required him to be 100% focused on being prepared in case of any contingency.

As much as I would like to be racing a car, it’s what Red Bull has decided is the best thing for me right now. They want me to be 100% focused on being ready at any point.

Liam Lawson sees familiarities between Super Formula and Formula 1

The rookie raced in Super Formula before entering Formula 1. Lawson reiterated how helpful his Super Formula experience had been in entering F1. He talked about the familiarity of the two categories and claimed that the cars were faster and a step closer to Formula 1.

Lawson claimed that he wouldn’t have been ready for Formula 1 if he hadn’t been a part of Super Formula and took a jump directly from F2 to Formula 1. The Kiwi commented that the simulators were very close to replicating the driving experience in an F1 car, and that had been a big part in preparing him for Formula 1.

Liam Lawson is regretfully seatless for the next season of Formula 1 and is back to his reserve duties. Despite this, he has talked about his faith in his capabilities and hopes to secure a seat in the sport by 2025.
