The qualifying session was abruptly interrupted when Kevin Magnussen‘s Haas came to a standstill, obstructing the racing line. This unfortunate turn of events resulted in Sargeant’s time being deleted, forcing him to rerun his fast lap. With the Haas blocking his progress, the young American driver was outside the top 15, endangering his chances of advancing to Q2.

After the track was cleared, the qualifying session resumed, and the Williams drivers were the first to rejoin the action. Determined to compensate for lost time, Sargeant delivered an exceptional lap, securing his place in Q2. His impressive performance also meant that Sergio Perez of Red Bull was eliminated from Q3, highlighting the competitive nature of the session.

Sargeant has yet to out-qualify his teammate, Alex Albon, but he remains hopeful of scoring his debut points at his team’s home grand prix. With the exceptional pace displayed by the Williams cars throughout the weekend, this dream-turned-reality seems within reach. Watching Sargeant defy gravity in Q1 only adds to the anticipation surrounding his performance in the upcoming race.
