“Logan Sargeant will win the Las Vegas GP for freedom and democracy” – FP3 results make American fans lose it as their golden boy earns top 3 spot
Logan Sargeant bagged an impressive position at the FP3 session in Las Vegas, driving the American fans crazy with pride for him.
The floor is all set for the Las Vegas GP Qualifying to start as the drivers recorded their last Free Practice lap times on Friday. The 3.8 mile-long circuit constructed on the Vegas Strip is completely new for all the drivers who will be racing against each other Saturday night. Thus, the practice sessions are very important for the teams to get some insight on their cars’ performance in Vegas. Unfortunately, the first two FPs turned out to be a huge failure as FP1 got stopped after 9 minutes because of Carlos Sainz‘s manhole crash.
FP2 was held without any audience present in the grandstands at around 1:00 in the morning. Daniel Ricciardo claimed the session did not even ‘feel worth it’ as all the racers wanted to pack up and get to the track on the next day for FP3. Little did they know that the last Free Practice would hold a surprise up its sleeve for all the teams. The session kicked off like usual but was stalled due to Alex Albon’s crash. The Williams driver lost his left rear tire in an incident that happened during the last five minutes of FP3. During that time, his teammate Logan Sargeant was running in top 3.
Sargeant, being the first American racer to appear in Formula 1 in decades, garners huge support from his countrymen every time he races in the United States. As the Las Vegas GP is the biggest motorsports event in the history of America, the fans naturally wished for Logan Sargeant to shine through. And the 22-year-old has just accomplished that by getting a P3 spot in the third Practice Session in Vegas.

Logan Sargeant entered F1 amidst huge celebrations amongst the American fans of the series. But it can be said that he has underperformed throughout the season since he has only scored 1 point for Williams till now. But his top 3 finish at the Free Practice 3 session in Las Vegas has given the followers some newfound hope. And that is when they decided to revive the ‘What the f*** is a kilometre’ meme from the time when Sargeant exclaimed at the difference in the spelling of ‘kilometer’.
