“Luckily Mick is okay but a big, big accident,” Fernando Alonso urges F1 to learn after yet another car splitting accident

Fernando Alonso and Mick Schumacher

Fernando Alonso was relieved to see Mick Schumacher step out of the car after his horrific crash in Monaco. We were yet again reminded of the danger that the drivers put themselves into to put on a show for the fans. The German was on the receiving end of a big accident as he lost control of the VF-22 coming out of Turn 15 and colliding into the tecpro barriers, bringing out the red flag because of the damage to the barrier.

What was really shocking to see was what happened to the car. It took all of us back to 2020 as we Mick Schumacher’s car split into two halves. The first thing that came to mind was that infamous Romain Grosjean accident which also car rear end detaching itself from the front. The major difference between the two accidents was that no fire broke out in Mick’s case.

The sheer force with which the car collided into the barriers was terrifying and therefore FIA needs to look into the matter at the earliest. Fernando Alonso, with regards to this matter, said, “[It was] massive again. I remember also seeing the Jeddah accident and again, the car split in two. I saw the gearbox was not in the chassis.

“Luckily he is okay but a big, big accident so hopefully we can learn something from this as well.”

“I don’t think it is a car issue, it is just how hard you hit. With these cars, they are very heavy, more than 800 kilos, so the inertia you go into a wall is a lot higher than in the past.”

“As I said, we will learn something from this as well,” as reported by gpfans.

Fernando Alonso, just like the other drivers, was worried to see a car splitting crash in a race yet gain. Therefore, it is imperative for the FIA to make the necessary changes and make sure that a crash like this doesn’t happen again.
