The Summer break will be ending with the commencement of the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix this weekend. Max Verstappen is having a stellar season so far and is leading the drivers world championship by quite a large margin. This is a surprise after the opening 3 races of the season where Max suffered two DNF’s.

After the first 3 races, title rival Charles Leclerc had a sizeable lead over Max Verstappen and it did look like the championship had been decided then itself. But this is Formula 1 and anything can happen in this sport. What followed through were a series of bad races for Ferrari and Charles while Max Verstappen went on a charge to win the next 7 races before the start of the summer break. Due to this, Max Verstappen how has a 80 point lead over Charles Leclerc and is leading the driver’s championship.

With the Belgian Grand Prix being just around the corner, it should be known that the track has made a lot of changes and renovations. The total price of the hold redevelopment costed about 80 million dollars which is a massive amount. With last year’s flood damage to the track, the repairs were necessary for Formula 1 to race there. Max Verstappen is ever ready to race in Spa this weekend after almost a month without Formula 1 due to the summer break.

“I’m feeling ready to race again after a good break. I definitely got the itch to get back to it. It will be a busy triple header but it will be okay to manage as we’ve all had a rest”, says Max Verstappen. The upgrades to the track have made it a little more old school with the gravel traps which I think is a good idea. It’s my favourite track so I’m looking forward to racing there this weekend. It looks like there might be rain around which will make it more tricky, but luckily as a Team we like a challenge,” he continues.

Max Verstappen won last year’s grand prix at the track after the race was cancelled after doing a few laps behind the safety car. This year, the reigning world champion will be adamant to win the race after some real racing. It will also bee interesting to see what Ferrari has in store for the second half of the season.
