The Aero-genius Adrian Newey has been in the sport of Formula 1 for a very long time. The 65-year-old is the man behind over 20 championship-winning challengers. As a result, the Briton has earned a name for himself within the sport as one of the greatest engineers. But former driver Luis Perez Sala shared his opinions on Newey’s importance that doesn’t align with general belief.

Luis Perez Sala initially asserted that Max Verstappen is scoring the ‘goal’ during races with the assistance by Adrian Newey and the crew at Red Bull according to the Ex-driver. But he pointed out that, it;s not just one man that making the difference in the team. Perez Sala asserted no one is more important at Red Bull and the veteran designer is ‘irreplaceable.’

I usually say that Max is the one scoring the goal, but Newey and the rest of the team are the ones giving the assistance. Anyway, there is no one irreplaceable no matter how good it is...I have always believed more in the team than in the individual leaderships and Red Bull is setting an era thanks to all the people who work there.
Perez Sala said, as reported by as.com.

Apart from this, the 64-year-old asserted that he believed in the team as a whole. For Perez Sala, individual leadership didn’t matter much as he saw the bigger picture. Hence, regardless of the former driver’s comments, Adrian Newey would continue to work his magic at Red Bull. Newey has been with Red Bull since 2006 and has become a very integral part of Milton Keynes since then.

He is someone who has come out of the common mold. When I was driving I already designed the March of the Leyton House team and they were already very futuristic cars.
Perez Sala said.

Additionally, the former driver highlighted how Adrian Newey was ahead of everyone else and set the tone. Newey’s perception mixed with his knowledge and experience helped him craft such capable challengers which were completely untouched by others in terms of pace. Hence, Perez Sala asserted that the amazing thing about the engineer was how he remained above others in the sport for so long.

He was way ahead of everyone else and set the tone. The amazing thing is that he has remained above others for so many years.
Perez Sala added.

Adrian Newey even designed the RB20 which is even more dominant than its highly dominant predecessor RB19. As a result, Red Bull would likely dominate the entirety of the 2024 season and score a perfect season. Milton Keynes is off to a great start by scoring an impressive one-two finish in both the starting races.
