Max Verstappen had a formidable campaign in the 2023 F1 season. The Dutch driver won a record-breaking nineteen races and comfortably took a third consecutive F1 title. The 26-year-old annihilated the competition this season with some incredible drivers. Now, MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has prasied Verstappen’s talent.

Marquez mentioned that he is quite fond of the three-time world champion. The Spanish rider cited Verstappen’s ‘killer’ spirit for his fondness. The MotoGP champion claimed that a person must have the killer spirit to be successful in any field or to become a hero. As such, Marc Marquez reckoned that someone like Max Verstappen is always focused on winning.

I like Max Verstappen a lot. Mostly because he is a real killer. To win, to be successful at all or to be a hero, you also have to be a killer. What does that mean? That you don't care about anything except the one sacred goal: winning

Moreover, the 30-year-old claimed that he and Verstappen shared this mentality. The two champions remain focused on winning and it doesn’t matter how they achieve this goal. Marc Marquez and Max Verstappen have met each other on a few occasions because of their Red Bull and Honda connections.

How you achieve that goal and how you actually win doesn't really matter. His first priority is winning and in that respect we have the same mentality. I therefore really like him a lot.

Max Verstappen was in a league of his own in 2023

Verstappen had an astounding season in 2023. The Dutch driver broke several records in his dominant run as he clinched a third-world title. Max Verstappen seemed to be in a league of his own with a massive gap to his rivals including Sergio Perez. The 26-year-old impressed the entire paddock with his performance.

Certainly, the three-time champion would be looking to continue his successful run in 2024. Verstappen remains keen on winning in F1 despite having dominated the sport for the past two seasons. Although, the Dutch driver has made it clear that he would look into doing activities outside Formula 1 in the future.

It remains to be seen if Max Verstappen can dominate the upcoming F1 season. Red Bull remain the favorites for 2024. However, rivals such as McLaren and Ferrari are optimistic about their prospects as they continue to develop their car over the winter. As such fans would be looking forward to seeing the 2024 F1 pecking order.
