Christian Horner remains the talk of the paddock at the Bahrain GP. The 50-year-old was accused of inappropriate behavior by a female Red Bull employee. Despite being cleared of all allegations, the Briton once again came under the spotlight after a massive alleged evidence leak. Now it seems that top figures including Helmut Marko might be looking to show the door to Horner.

Dr. Helmut Marko is the Red Bull Motorsport Consultant who shared a great relationship with late Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz. There were reports of tensions between Marko and Horner last year. However, the two dismissed such speculation. As per the Daily Mail, the 80-year-old and Dietrich Mateschitz’s son Mark Mateschitz are looking to sack the Red Bull team boss amidst the current allegations.

Mark Mateschitz reportedly wanted to oust Horner before the investigation was concluded. However, Christian Horner has been supported by Red Bull’s majority owner Chalerm Yoovidhya. Yoovidhya’s backing has allowed the 50-year-old to continue his duties at Milton Keynes.

Red Bull Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff who is rumored to be a prime candidate to replace Horner reportedly agrees with Marko and Mateschitz. As per the Daily Mail, Mintzlaff even considers Christian Horner as “too expensive and too senior.”

Moreover, Mintzlaff might be looking to centralize decision-making for Red Bull in Austria. This would change the current setup where Christian Horner holds major sway in multiple organizations including Red Bull Power Trains and Red Bull Advanced Technologies. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding these claims from Milton Keynes.

Will Christian Horner survive alleged evidence leak?

Christian Horner has continued as the Red Bull Team Principal at the Bahrain GP weekend. However, the alleged leak of evidence led to F1 and the FIA discussing the situation surrounding the 50-year-old. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem even admitted that Horner’s case was damaging the sport on a human level.

Moreover, Horner is reportedly having trouble with his wife Geri Halliwell, a former member of Spice Girls. So much so, that the former music icon might even ditch her husband and skip the Bahrain GP. Although, it must be noted that Halliwell has not commented on the alleged evidence leak. Previously, the 51-year-old stood firmly beside Christian Horner. Although things have changed since.

Certainly, Christian Horner will face a lot of controversies in the coming days. The Briton refused to comment on anonymous speculation over the alleged leak. However, it is clear that the 50-year-old might be forced to give answers to the public soon.
