The Red Bull F1 team has been in supreme command of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship, with Max Verstappen perfectly leading the team’s way through all the challenges of the sport. While the Dutchman is enjoying his time off from F1, former Red Bull driver Mark Webber has shed light on the only thing that could stop Verstappen from equalling Sebastian Vettel‘s record in Zandvoort.

Sebastian Vettel, during his Red Bull era, was almost unbeatable; he won 4 back to back world championships, and in the year 2013, made the record of winning nine-consecutive F1 races. Since then, the record has stood strong but could come under threat at the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen has so far managed eight consecutive wins in the ongoing campaign and could equal the German legend’s record if he wins in Zandvoort; while he is the favorite going into the weekend, Mark Webber has pinpointed the only thing that could bring his hype train to an abrupt halt.

While shedding light on the same, the former Australian racing driver told Motorsport, “Only reliability problems can stand in the way of Verstappen, although I think the whole world would like to see him win in Zandvoort. It would be very nice if he succeeded there too. If he wins there, he is on the same level.”

While Webber has admitted that only external factors could spoil Max Verstappen’s party at Zandvoort, he further believes Verstappen would return fully refreshed after the summer break. While talking about it, he said, “We know his level. It is top shelf. He also has a wealth of experience by now. He will undoubtedly enjoy the holiday and come back refreshed. And I think there is no pressure on him anymore.”

The 25-year-old has been in sublime form during the ongoing campaign, where no one can stand up against him. Sergio Perez, who has also got the same machinery underneath him, is miles behind in the 2023 Drivers Championship; such is the level of his dominance this year.

The upcoming race at the Zandvoort is Max Verstappen’s home race, and considering that he has the chance of equalling Sebastian Vettel’s record in front of home fans, he will be extra motivated to put on a great show at the free-flowing circuit. The rest of the 19 drivers could be in for a painful three-day event from the 25th of August onwards.
