British driver Lando Norris had put forth an excellent comeback after the performance slump at the beginning of the 2023 season. However, the 24-year-old is yet to score his maiden win with McLaren as he remains winless in Formula 1. Hence, F1 Presenter Martin Brundle shared a few words of wisdom for Norris.
The renowned F1 presenter was quizzed about his opinion on Norris leaving the team after a similar winless stint in 2024. Brundle reckoned that F1 drivers have become more keen on focusing at a single team. However, The 64-year-old insisted that F1 was a small business and someone like Lando Norris must keep his options open for the future.
Whether you’re the team boss or whether you’re the drivers, you have to say, ‘I only have eyes for one team one driver pairing’. But it’s a very small business, relatively speaking and your career whizzes past, you’ve got to keep your options open.Brundle wrote for Sky Sports F1.

The presenter was not hesitant in acknowledging the fact that loyalty to a singular team would have its benefits. However, Brundle affirmed that Norris must look at other alternatives if he fails to win a race next season. As an F1 driver must ensure that there are in the best position to fight for the world title.
Loyalty pays, especially these days in F1 teams, you can build something together but if he sees another year out without a victory, he’ll have to, and in any event, he should be making sure he’s in the best possible place to win a world championship.
Martin Brundle praised the McLaren driver line-up
However, the Briton did not overlook the amazing driver lineup for the Woking-based constructor. The rookie Oscar Piastri and the more experienced Lando Norris complemented each other well in the team and produced great results for the orange squad. This was appreciated by Brundle as he claimed that the team was ‘in ascendancy’ with the lineup.

Additionally, Brundle insisted that McLaren comprehended every upgrade brought to the challenger and affirmed that the upgrades significantly improved the pace and performance of the car. This suggested that the data from Woking matched with all the upgrades on track resulting in big gains for the British team.
Martin Brundle hopes that Red Bull do not dominate the grid in 2024. The F1 presenter highlighted that it should not only be McLaren but also Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin who should be competing for the championship. Certainly, this would create an enticing season for fans in 2024.
