Red Bull Racing consultant Helmut Marko spoke about why the 26-year-old was disappointed after the race. According to the Austrian, Verstappen believed that he could keep up with Carlos Sainz and fight for the win.

In the race, Max said that he could have easily kept up with the pace of Sainz at the top. That's why he was also disappointed and annoyed by the mechanical failure.
Helmut Marko said.

With the scarlet red Ferrari’s looking rapid throughout the sessions, it would’ve been challenging for Verstappen to fight them, but with a car as dominant as RB20, he would’ve done it. The bigger question for the next weekend will be if Ferrari can stop Verstappen from bouncing back.
