“Max is starting to do that now too,” Stefano Domenicali sees flashes of Michael Schumacher’s brilliance in Max Verstappen

Stefano Domenicali determines Max Verstappen’s current form in place of Michael Schumacher. After the Pole position at Zandvoort, Max could be considered the current best driver on the grid despite his young age. As a 24-year-old, Max is still a world champion with 29 wins to his name already.
Max Verstappen has been driving at his best in the 2022 season. He has been dominating the sport for a while now after winning his controversial title last season. Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1 seems to reincarnate Michael Schumacher’s young era in Max for this generation. As Verstappen, he has nothing more to prove himself to the sport. The next step for Max is only to break the records set by the previous giants.
“Max is still very young, but already a champion who has proved that he attracts a lot of people. I almost said Michael earlier, instead of Max, because in his time Schumacher also showed how important it is to be such a superstar. Someone who can create something unique anywhere in the world. Max is starting to do that now too,” said Stefano.
Stefano Domenicali on Max Verstappen’s impact on the Dutch GP
Max Verstappen is half Dutch but has a license for the Netherlands which basically makes him a citizen of that country. Max’s impact on bringing back Zandvoort has been enormous. Last season, Max was fighting for the world championship and won his home GP as a part of his winning campaign.
This provoked the sports in charge to keep Dutch on the calendar. “Verstappen has been able to rekindle the racing fire in the Netherlands,” Domenicali says.
Currently, Max Verstappen is starting from the Pole position of his home race yet again. But as Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and both the Mercedes on his tow to take back the crown of being a Dutch GP winner.
