“Max nailed it,” Christian Horner praised Max Verstappen for a clutch pole at the Dutch GP
Max Verstappen
Christian Horner expressed a sign of pleasure after Max Verstappen grabbed the Pole position at the Dutch GP. Max didn’t really have a strong run on Friday, the same was expected on Saturday but things did change as the Qualifying session started. Max Verstappen is in the Pole position for the Dutch GP.
Max Verstappen’s Friday started off with transmission issues with his car which made him walk all his walk to the paddock after stopping his car in the middle of the track. Though he got going in the second practice, Red Bull didn’t really look that strong after getting a few runs. As the Saturday started, Max looked comfortable with his car but still had to work his way up.
Dutch GP Qualifying was on another level for the Dutchman after he did only one run for the Q1 session and stayed inside the garage for the rest of it. Max looked strong enough for the Pole position and ultimately did get it after a very close call with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. The gap between Max and Charles was 0.021 seconds.
Horner praised Max after a tough day yesterday, “He had a difficult day yesterday, and was on the back foot. But it was important to recover… what impressed m with that qualifying was his lap on the scrubbed tyres in Q2. That saved him a set of tyres for tomorrow. To come back and get pole position is beyond what we expected today,” said Christian Horner.
Christian Horner in a fight with Ferrari for the win at the Dutch GP
Ferrari after getting themselves humiliated at the Belgian GP by Red Bull and Max Verstappen looked really strong in the final sessions of the qualifying. Charles managed a provisional pole ahead of Max after a brilliant lap at the start of Q3. Bulls got under pressure after Leclerc’s lap but got their way up due to Max Verstappen.
“Charles put down a hell of a marker with that first run in Q3 and massive, massive pressure to go out there and deliver a lap. He did it, and did it all in sector 2. A really tiny margin but a good one” said, Christian Horner.
Although Horner doesn’t seem to have a rest with Ferrari being as strong as ever,” We expected them to be there on a circuit like this quite similar to Budapest. They will be competitive in the race tomorrow as they have low tyre deg and they will be a factor. They have nothing to lose as well,” said Christian Horner.
Red Bull has been very dominant throughout the season with probably the second fastest car on the track. Though they are still leading the championship with 118 points to Ferrari in the championship.
