Max Verstappen is arguably the biggest name in Formula 1. The three-time world champion has annihilated the competition this year including teammate Sergio Perez. Red Bull was forced to bring in bodyguards for the Dutch driver in Mexico after the 26-year-old received threats on social media. Now, Verstappen has stated that he does feel safe this weekend.
The three-time world champion admitted that he has “a bit more security” at the Mexican GP. Red Bull consultant Dr. Helmut Marko had confirmed that extra security measures would be put in place for Verstappen this weekend. The 26-year-old admitted that the bodyguards have made his life easier in the paddock and said that he felt “very safe.”
Max Verstappen pointed out that the Mexican GP paddock is always busy with large crowds. As such, Verstappen’s bodyguards allow the Dutch driver to travel more comfortably and quickly this year. This includes traveling within and as well as outside the paddock.
Here in the paddock last year, it was really, really busy to get from your hospitality to the garage. It just helps also to just make it all a bit smoother on-track, off-track, travel from your hotel and stuff like that.

Max Verstappen has received positive reception at the Mexican GP so far
Red Bull were cautious about having a difficult weekend in Mexico. The Austrian team expected to face backlash from local fans as Sergio Perez continued to struggle against Max Verstappen. The massive disparity between the two drivers was believed to be the reason for numerous threats towards the Dutch driver.

However, Verstappen has been welcomed by fans with open arms so far this weekend. The three-time world champion enjoyed the marketing day with Perez in Mexico City. The 26-year-old was glad to finally be back on the circuit. However, the Red Bull driver will continue to be protected by additional bodyguards this weekend.
Yesterday I had a whole marketing day and it’s been honestly great reception here like I always had. So it’s just been good to be back.

Max Verstappen would be looking to focus on the Mexican GP. The Dutch driver has not received backlash this weekend. However, many expect that the 26-year-old would inevitably face some negative reactions from fans. The Red Bull was booed last weekend at the US GP as well. Although, it remains to be seen how things pan out for Verstappen in Mexico City.
