The Reigning World Champion made history this weekend at the Dutch GP as he equalled Sebastian Vettel’s 2013 record of 9 consecutive wins in Formula 1 as Red Bull continue their marvellous season. In a recent interaction with a reporter, Verstappen comically mentioned how he sometimes doesn’t pick Helmut Marko’s phone calls.

Marko still remains to be the Motorsport Advisor at Red Bull and Max has revealed how Marko calls him a little too early in the morning for the driver’s liking. The playful chat also brought Verstappen’s Team Principal Christian Horner. Here’s how it transpired as the reporter asked, “Do you ever dare not answer Christian Horner’s phone?” To this, Max Verstappen said,“No, I always talk to him on the phone.” Then, the persistent reporter pushed Max to talk about his calls with Red Bull Chief Advisor Helmut Marko. He asked, “And with Helmut, too?” Max said,“Yes, sometimes he calls a little too early, but of course I always call him back.”

So, it seems that Horner has tackled the problem of understanding when the Dutch lion prefers to have his calls in the day. Speaking about Marko, he is often seen heaping praise on the Dutch driver. The Motorsport Advisor recently labelled Verstappen ‘one of the best of all time’. He said, “I don’t what could be done better” when asked what he would like to improve about Max’s performance.

Taking about Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen, and phone calls, here’s looking back at this season’s ********Spanish GP. Verstappen, while putting in lap-times in FP2, had a hilarious interaction over the radio

Max was in session while he heard a phone ringing on his radio and amusingly guessed that it was Marko’s. Here’s the Radio exchange, “Someone’s phone is going. Is that Helmut’s? Ha ha”. GP Lambiase, Verstappen’s race engineer, confirmed Max’s guess and replied a stoic, “Ugh, yes.”

The commentating team was quick on get in on the joke saying, “It’s not on silent, this shows how much power Helmut Marko has”. “On a retro ringtone as well, that’s probably what gave it away”.

On the workfront, Max Verstappen has scored nine race wins in a row, thus equalling Sebastian Vettel’s record. And it is almost certain that the Dutchman is on his way towards a third World Championship win as the gap between him and his closest competitor, Sergio Perez, has widened to above 100 points.
