Max Verstappen the three-time world champion does not want to surpass his 2023 records. The Dutchman emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency and continuing to improve as a driver. Christian Horner was seen as convinced about Verstappen’s performance and the results he was bringing to the team.

The Dutchman’s outstanding performance during the 2023 season made him accumulate almost twice as many points as the second-place contender, Sergio Perez, in the title race. Verstappen took 19 Grand Prix victories, four sprint race wins, 12 pole positions, 21 podium finishes, and led over 1,000 laps across 22 rounds last season, setting many new records for Formula 1.

The goal is to have another very competitive car, and I'm trying to do my best from my side. But for that to happen, a lot of different things have to come together. One factor is of course how well the other teams are positioned. The people around us are learning more and more.
Max Verstappen said as reported by motorsport-total.com

According to the reigning champion, the objective right now is to have a competitive vehicle and maximize points. Verstappen added that the group is making an effort to broaden their understanding before the season.

The Dutchman added that the team’s success in the 2024 season will depend on its rivals. Mercedes has unveiled their latest side pods, and James Allison has returned as technical director. Additionally, Ferrari has revamped its Formula One vehicle, which could threaten the RB-20.

Max Verstappen took the RB 20 out for a drive at Silverstone

Verstappen has already done the shakedown of the new car at Silverstone. Now, the Dutch driver drove the new machinery in full wet conditions. The 26-year-old comfortably pushed the car on a drenched track and was seen comfortably driving the RB 20.

Nevertheless, Verstappen remains the favorite for the 2024 Formula 1 season as he takes the wheel of the RB20. He will push the car to its limits throughout the season, but it remains uncertain whether he can secure another world title this year

Verstappen also remained silent when asked he was asked about the RB20 performance. Verstappen also said he would like to drive the car on the track, rather than driving on the simulator so that he can give feedback to his engineers. But we all have to wait for the pre-season testing whether the RB20 would be more dominant than the RB19.
