Carbon emissions have become a major point of concern over the years. People and celebrities across the world have tried to raise awareness of CO2 emissions in order to battle climate change. However, even today many big names have massive carbon footprints including F1 champion Max Verstappen. However, the fans of the Red Bull driver have pointed out the carbon emissions of Pop icon Taylor Swift.

Max Verstappen was nineteenth on the official Myclimate Carbon Tracker. The Dutch driver flew over 215 thousand miles over the course of 2023 in 119 flights in private jets. The three-time world champion had a carbon footprint of 1,693,800 kg of CO2. Certainly, a massive number. However, it must be noted that Verstappen’s main footprint was caused due to the F1 schedule that spans five different continents.

Taylor Swift, on the other hand, traveled just under 150,000 miles last year in a total of 96 flights. The Pop icon had a carbon footprint of 1,173,700 kg of CO2. Swift is currently dating NFL’s Travis Kelce. Subsequently, Swift has been on her private jet often in recent weeks as he traveled back and forth to meet her boyfriend. So much so, that the popstar even had a private jet parking for the Superbowl this year. It is no surprise that the 34-year-old got canceled for CO2 emissions by climate activities.

Fans hit out at Taylor Swift’s carbon footprint after Max Verstappen was 19th on the list

Fans on X compared the carbon footprint of the two stars. One user claimed that the list itself could be fake. The user alleged that Taylor Swift conspired to create such a list. They wrote, “some of them is the list is not even alive ,fake list made by taylor.” However, it must be noted that there is no evidence regarding such a claim.

Moreover, another fan highlighted that Max Verstappen used his jet mostly for his F1 duties. However, the fan alleged that Taylor Swift used her jet for even the smallest tasks. The fan joked, “Except Max does it for work mostly. Taylor uses the plane to go the bathroom.”

Additionally, another user claimed that Swift was paid massive amounts for singing meaningless songs. The user stated, “Gets paid for yapping meaningless shit on to mic.”On the other hand, one fan reckoned that Taylor Swift was simply brought into this conversation because of her massive popularity as an icon. The fan replied, “She only got dragged because shes taylor swift.”

Certainly, carbon emissions are a concerning issue in today’s world. However, it must be noted that criticizing a couple of celebrities will not help unless they take action to change the status quo. Moreover, a more sustainable F1 calendar should be made in the case of Max Verstappen. As such, it remains to be seen if there will be a change in the Myclimate list next year.
