Max Verstappen boycotts Sky Sports F1 in Mexico following Ted Kravitz’s controversial comments over last year’s Championship
Max and Ted
Max Verstappen stole the show yesterday with his prolific outing during qualifying, and the Dutchman has again hit the headlines, however, for a completely different reason.
During the ongoing Mexican GP weekend, Max Verstappen is refusing to show up in front of a Sky Sports camera or any of its affiliated channels.
The common belief in the paddock is that the situation has come about because of what Sky Sports reporter, Ted Kravitz said about Verstappen’s 2021 title triumph.
Lewis Hamilton was in contention to win the recently concluded United States Grand Prix but was overtaken during the dying stages of the race by Verstappen.
Ted Kravitz, after the US GP, linked Hamilton’s Austin outing to how he was robbed of the 2021 World Championship, and this has not sat well with Max Verstappen.
Thus to show his displeasure against the reporter’s comments, it is believed that Verstappen has decided to not appear in front of a sky sports camera.
Ted Kravitz US GP comments that infuriated Max Verstappen
While Max Verstappen is refusing to interact with Sky Sports or any of its affiliated channels, Ted Kravtiz’s comments have come out in the open.
The reporter while dwelling on the 25-year-old’s US GP win added, “[Hamilton] doesn’t win a race all year, and then finally comes back at a track where he could win the first race all year, battling the same guy who won the race he was robbed in the previous year, and manages to finish ahead of him.”
“What a script and a story that would have been. But that’s not the way the script turned out today, was it?“
“Because the guy that beat him after being robbed actually overtook him, because he’s got a quicker car, because of engineering and Formula 1 and design, and pretty much because of [Adrian Newey, Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer] over there.“
Moreover, ahead of the US GP, kravtiz indicated that Max Verstappen is not capable of winning World Titles in a normal way and credited Red Bull for the job they have done with their cars.
“Verstappen is around the [Austin] paddock, he seems very happy with himself. He doesn’t seem to be a driver capable of winning a championship in a normal way.”
All these comments of Ted Kravitz have hit a nerve within the 2022 World Champion and considering that there are still 3 races left in the season, would Verstappen change his mind and decide to again start appearing in front of Sky Sports personnel?
