Formula 1 2022 season : A Charles Leclerc Vs Max Verstappen Showdown
Charles Leclerc who started the race on pole, crossed the chequered flag in P2. The Monegasque assessed his 2022 campaign by saying “I think we have been in only one position since the beginning of the season, which means we are hunted for now. I quite like this position to be honest, because it means that you are doing something right. But it is also true that it’s two races that the gap is slowly closing down.”
Meanwhile, the other protagonist of the drivers championship, Max Verstappen said “I like the position I’m in at the moment, knowing that the car is quick. And for example, end of last year, of course, I was the one who was being hunted. And that was actually not a great position because I knew that we didn’t have the pace anymore. I knew it was going to be very tricky to the end. So yeah, just depends a bit of how competitive you are as well.”
The Formula 1 calendar for the 2022 season is a long one. The season still entails a prospect of 18 races yet to come and the car development aspect plays a major role this year. The cost cap is also another factor each team needs to keep an eye on. The constructor and the driver who manages to nail these new factors of the sport will find themselves crowned champions come the end of the season.
