Max Verstappen saw his 10-race winning streak come to a bitter end at last night’s Singapore GP. While a lot has already been said about it by the F1 pundits, Verstappen has made it known that he is absolutely fine with the result. He knew that his run would come to an end sooner or later, and thus, he was okay with it.
Max Verstappen has been nothing short of brilliant during the ongoing campaign and has quite easily bashed all his competitors. He has so far managed a brilliant 12 Grand Prix victories with is currently leading the 2023 Drivers Championship by a handsome margin. Moreover, the Dutchman is ready to move on from last night’s disappointment and get on with the rest of the season.
While talking about the same in detail, he told Motorsport, “I knew that this day would come so for me it is absolutely fine. Everything needs to be perfect. Everyone is always saying, ‘Ah look how dominant they are, and look how easy it is. But it is never easy, and a lot of details that we need to get right, and this weekend clearly we didn’t get a few things right and then you are on the back foot.”
Looking at the comment of the reigning World Champion, it is quite clear that while he is a bit gutted with the Singapore GP result, he is willing to move on and try and do his absolute best in the remaining races of the season. With his comments, he has also indirectly urged Red Bull to get its act together ahead of Japan.
Christian Horner admits that Red Bull did not expect Max Verstappen’s run to end in Singapore
While Max Verstappen has made his peace with the disappointment at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Christian Horner admits that Red Bull did not expect his winning run to end. He said, “We never expected it. I mean, there are still eight races to go! You guys have been asking me since pretty much Jeddah, and to have got through 15 races is beyond our wildest imagination.”
Further, he even acknowledges and hails Max for doing something for the first time since Sebastian Vettel. Horner and Co. are extremely grateful to Verstappen for how he has carried the whole Red Bull team since the start of the 2023 F1 season. Moreover, he has put him in the same company as that of the former 4-time Champion, Vettel.
?️ "We were just unfortunate with the timing of the Safety Car. I really think that we would have been in a good place to fight up front."
