Max Verstappen emerged victorious at the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP following yet another dominant performance. The 26-year-old continues his winning streak and raises it to nine, which has been going on since the Japanese GP in 2023. Hence, the reigning world champion is on the trajectory to surpass his previous world record in Formula 1 for consecutive race wins.
Verstappen asserted that the overall race at the Saudi Arabian GP was ‘fantastic’ and so was the weekend. Additionally, the three-time world champion mentioned how the weekend was great for the entire team as well as Milton Keynes made no mistakes down the weekend. Subsequently, the 26-year-old claimed that he felt great while racing in the dominant RB20 challenger.
I think overall a fantastic weekend for the whole team but also for myself as I felt great in the car.Verstappen told during post-race interviews (H&T: @JunaidSamodien_/X).
The Red Bull star was not hesitant in accepting how the last few laps were a bit difficult to drive around in. The old tires were providing a lack of grip to the 26-year-old and caused the car to be ‘slippery’. However, the large gap to the drivers behind enabled Verstappen to juice out every ounce of performance from the challenger and score yet another dominant win in Formula 1.
The last few laps with the backmarkers and old tyres was a bit slippery, but we could manage it with the gap behind.
Max Verstappen could potentially score a perfect season in 2024
The Dutchman hasn’t made any mistakes throughout the past two seasons in Formula 1. Verstappen won 19 races in the 2023 season and labeled it as the most dominant season in F1 history. However, the team developed another dominant chassis capable of breaking previous milestones from the already dominant RB19.
The reigning world champion was even vocal about the ‘non conservative’ approach of the Red Bull RB20. Hence, the Dutch driver driver could potentially perform similarly if not better than in the 2023 season. As a result, Verstappen is currently on the trajectory to score a perfect season with 24 races down the season.
However, time will tell about how the Dutchman fares on everyone’s hopes for him. Currently, the 26-year-old has his head into the game as the team prepares for the upcoming Australian GP. Verstappen is in his ‘prime’ currently and his performances are nothing short of history being created in Formula 1.
