Despite some struggles, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen secured yet another dominant win at the US GP on Sunday; He won both the sprint and the main race at COTA. After the race, the reigning champion had bold opinions about the circuit. He claimed that the track has too many bumps and it’s more suited for Rall races than premier open-wheel races.

The Austin circuit has always been one of the roughest tracks on an F1 calendar, but during the recent three-day weekend, the roughness of the 5.513 km track was on a whole other level. Alongside Max Verstappen, several other F1 drivers were also seen complaining about the harsh condition of the COTA tarmac.

Verstappen pointed out that there is too much bouncing while racing due to the bumps around the track and it needs to be redone. The downforce factor of F1 makes racing at COTA extreme for the drivers.

It needs to be redone because at the moment it feels like it’s better suited to a rally car. I’m jumping and bouncing around. In an F1 car probably you don’t even see it as much because we are glued to the ground because of the downforce.
Verstappen said, as reported by RaceFans.

The Dutchman has admitted that COTA needs improvement; he has also shed light on how much he likes the circuit despite all the struggles.

But the bumps and jumps that we have in some places is way too much. I don’t think it’s F1-level. I love this track, honestly, the layout is amazing. But we definitely need new Tarmac and it needs to be a lot smoother for the coming years because we have already been asking for this for I think quite a few years and it’s not really been done.

Max Verstappen was able to triumph in the US GP despite starting the race from P6

While Max Verstappen has given a mixed reaction on the Circuit of the Americas, he was on it from the get-go during the challenging 56-lap race. Verstappen, despite starting the race from sixth place, was gradually able to make his way up on the grid and, by the closing stages, was in a comfortable lead at the north end.

The 26-year-old was pretty much flawless during the event, and his Austin exploits are a testament to the kind of caliber he has got as an F1 driver. With his triumph at the COTA circuit, he has now taken his 2023 wins tally to a highly impressive 17. Moreover, his points tally now stands at 466, which is way more than his nearest rival, Sergio Perez.

Next up on the calendar is the Mexican Grand Prix, and it is another track where Verstappen is going to be the favorite to come out as the victor. His 2023 dominance has been supreme, and considering everything that he has done this year, no one is really going to bet against him during this week’s Mexican weekend.
