Max Verstappen claims the new F1 Sprint format adds ‘some logic’ to ‘unexciting’ event
Max Verstappen was vocal with his dissatisfaction regarding the previous sprint race format. Now the reigning F1 champion has applauded the changes to the format for this year.

The 2024 F1 season will sport multiple changes down the season. Primarily, the season will be fully stacked with 24 races with a handful of triple headers. Additionally, a few races are shifted in the calendar to reduce the traveling between races. The Sprint format will use a new format. Hence Max Verstappen has shared his opinions on these changes.
The reigning world champion voiced his dissatisfaction with the old sprint format introduced by F1 in 2023. Under the new format, Qualifying for the Grand Prix will happen on Saturday after the Sprint race. While Sprint Qualifying will take place on Friday after the Free Practice session. Max Verstappen asserted that this reflected a more ‘logical’ approach in the formation of the entire format. Additionally, the three-time world champion insisted that he didn’t get excited by winning the sprint races in the old format and hence the changes were good according to him.
I think it’s a bit more logic I would say with the way the format is formed, For me, I don’t get more excited by winning a sprint or fighting for these kind of races but at least a bit more logical.Verstappen said, as reported by racefans.net.
The 26-year-old further mentioned that the Parc Ferme rules that were relaxed were also a great change. Verstappen highlighted that sometimes the teams and drivers became stuck with the wrong setup, thus sabotaging their weekend. Hence the new format would certainly help the drivers as well as the teams during the race weekend.
Sometimes you get stuck and you know that your weekend is ruined and you know you can’t really change anything. So for sure it will help.
Max Verstappen highlights his goals for the 2024 season
The Dutchman produced a highly dominant performance in the 2023 season and shattered multiple records in the sport. Hence, as Milton Keynes revealed their 2024 challenger, Verstappen highlighted his goals for the 2024 season. The 26-year-old mentioned that his goal for the coming season was to have a dominant drive in a very dominant car down the season.
Additionally, Verstappen asserted that he would do the best from his side, provided a lot of different things came together down the season. Another factor important for the Dutchman’s performance was how well the other teams positioned themselves on the grid. The reigning world champion pointed towards how other teams were quickly adapting to challenging Red Bull in the forefront.
Regardless, the team would most likely put forth a similar performance to the 2023 season. Although the team wouldn’t be able to dominate the entire season, the drivers will try their best to produce maximum results. Hence, the team now awaits the result of the entire Christian Horner investigation saga as the grid prepares for the first race just under a month away.
