The 2024 Australian GP turned out to be a nightmare for the Championship Leader Max Verstappen. The Dutchman suffered a Braking issue and the brake caught fire. His challenge for the win ended in the third lap for the reigning world champion. To make matters worse, Verstappen could’ve matched his previous world record of ten wins in a row after winning at Albert Park.

Following the incident, Max Verstappen was evidently furious with the entire ordeal. The 26-year-old claimed that it was visible from the data that the right rear brake was locked. However, Milton Keynes decided to do nothing about it and cause such an incident. Additionally, the stuck brake didn’t help get a better drive and the challenger was very snappy in the corner.

Apart from this, while turning in the pit with a burning brake, Red Bull thought of pitting for new tires to check if the issue might be fixed. Hence, Max Verstappen made a furious comment and called it “F**king Stupid” of the team. However, the Dutchman now cleared that the comment was solely for the thought of pitting under a burning brake. The 26-year-old had no personal grudges against the team following the incident.

Additionally, Verstappen’s tires also caught fire following the brakes. Hence, the entire issue was due to Red Bull’s negligence towards the issue early on. The retirement from the pole sitter enabled Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz to win the Australian GP followed by his Monegasque counterpart Chares Leclerc. Sergio Perez scored a mediocre P5 finish at Albert Park.

The entire Australian GP was very interesting and filled with drama for all the fans around the world. Verstappen’s early retirement was followed by Lewis Hamilton‘s engine failure. Additionally, even George Russell crashed out on the last lap of the race. As a result, even Mercedes suffered from a disappointing weekend in Australia.
