Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 World Champion, is gearing up for a wet and chaotic event at the Spa-Francorchamps F1 circuit. The Dutchman has been in scintillating for this year and he is fully prepared to give his prolific best one last time before the start of this year’s month-long summer break.
Max Verstappen believes that the Belgian Grand Prix has always been an entertaining affair and he considers the Spa Francorchamps F1 circuit as one of his favorite tracks. The circuit has very unique characteristics which support high-speed F1 racing and this is one of the main reasons why Verstappen is in its awe.
The 2023 Belgian Grand Prix is just around the corner and while talking about the upcoming event, Verstappen told racingnews365, “It looks like it’s going to be quite a rainy weekend so we’ll see what impact that’ll have as it always makes it a bit more interesting and chaotic. Spa is, of course, my favourite track on the calendar so I’m looking forward to racing there and seeing the fans, it should be a fun weekend.”
“It will be interesting to see how our car will perform in the higher-speed corners too. I have good memories from Spa and coming off the back of a great Team result in Hungary, I hope we can deliver this weekend, it’s the final push before the summer break.” The 25-year-old has made it known that he will do everything in his power to come away with maximum points from Spa.
Max Verstappen would look to further strengthen his position in Spa
Max Verstappen has been in red-hot form during the ongoing 2023 Formula 1 season and has absolutely bashed his competition this year. He has been able to put the RB19 through the wringer at every Grand Prix so far and this is why he currently has built a healthy lead over Sergio Perez in the Drivers Championship.
As things stand, Verstappen has so far managed 281 points whereas his more experienced teammate has only put on board 171 points in the same number of F1 outings. The upcoming Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchamps is another opportunity for Verstappen to further strengthen his position at the top of the standings.
However, as mentioned by Max Verstappen, the Belgian GP weekend is expected to be wet. Considering this, the race has the potential to throw a few surprises that could have a negative impact on Verstappen’s charge at the front. No matter what happens, the upcoming event is shaping up to be a must-see event.
