Christian Horner, the Red Bull F1 team principal, has shot the whole Austrian outfit and himself into a Tsunami of unknowns. Every day, one or other kind of rumor is coming out of the rumor mill, and amidst all this, Ex-F1 driver, Gerhard Berger has made a bold claim.
Red Bull’s star driver, Max Verstappen has recently been linked with a move to the Mercedes F1 team. A lot has been said about this in the F1 paddock and Gerhard Berger, with his recent comments, has pretty much confirmed Verstappen’s interest in joining the Toto Wolff-led team.
In a recent interview with F1Insiders, Berger said,
As things stand now: Horner is staying, Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey are leaving and Max is going to Mercedes.

With his short and crispy wording, the 64-year-old has made three things quite clear. First, Red Bull stalwarts, Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey are looking for a way out of Red Bull. Second, Max Verstappen is currently exploring the Mercedes option, and third, Horner is staying on as Red Bull’s boss. Moreover, one has to keep in mind that the 2025 seat on the Brackley-based team is currently vacant as Lewis Hamilton will depart from the team at the end of this year.
Toto Wolff recently met with Max Verstappen’s dad, Jos Verstappen
While Gerhard Berger has admitted that Max Verstappen is interested in joining Mercedes because of the ongoing Red Bull – Christian Horner drama, the 26-year-old’s dad, Jos Verstappen, recently had a meeting with Toto Wolff in the Bahrain GP F1 paddock.
The 2024 F1 season has just begun, and it is the off-track antics that are amassing more attention than what has so far taken place on the track. Christian Horner has unwillingly changed the landscape of the sport with several of his allies looking for a way out of Red Bull.
