In the previous season, when Max Verstappen won the world championship, his biggest cheerleader was Jos Verstappen. The Dutch duo has travelled to each race together ever since the karting days. Former champion, Gerhard Berger analysed their relationship by saying “The hard school of daddy Jos was probably the right one after all. Even as a spectator you were shocked and thought,’But that’s not how it goes’.”

The Formula 1 promotion was presented to Max Verstappen by Dr. Helmut Marko. The Red Bull advisor is seen as a brutally honest figure in the paddock, who is always straight up with his drivers. Berger pointed out how Jos Verstappen’s strictness would have prepared Max to deal with Helmut at Red Bull. The former champion also reflected on his time with Marko, saying, “First he made me wash the truck. But it was a good thing. Because I had survived Helmut well, even an Enzo Ferrari , Frank Williams or Ron Dennis couldn’t hurt me.”

The reigning world champion is the face of the Red Bull currently. The Milton Keynes based team are elated with the performances he has delivered for them. Ahead of the 2022 season, Max signed a deal that keeps him at the team until 2028. The 24 year old has shown signs of maturity and experience with more race wins surely destined his way.
