Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez
Max Verstappen has secured P1 for the upcoming Canadian GP but has, however, shown no mercy toward the struggles of his teammate behind the wheel of the RB19. With yesterday’s dismal outing, the Mexican driver has not made it into the Q3 session thrice.
Max Verstappen has been on a rampage for Red Bull on one side of the garage, whereas Sergio Perez, on the other side of things, has found it incredibly difficult to put his car through the wringer, especially during the qualifying sessions. Perez will again have to fight his way through the midfield to make it toward the north end of the grid.
Verstappen is currently leading the Championship by a margin of 53 points, and while stressing his teammate’s dismal run of form, he told racingnews365, “Well, if I hadn’t been there it would have looked very different for Red Bull. I wouldn’t be happy with not making Q3 three times in a row. I’m not concerned about it either. I’m busy enough on my side of the garage getting everything in order. I pay all my attention to that.“
The 25-year-old has been brutally honest in his assessment of Sergio Perez and has even indicated that it is not his concern. He feels he has already got his hands full on his side of the Red Bull garage and is only focused on doing his job to the best of his ability. Verstappen is on track to secure a sixth win in the ongoing season.

The reigning F1 World Champion has been performing in a league of his own this year and has smashed his competition. Moreover, the fight for the 2023 title has only got two horses, in the form of Verstappen and Perez. While the former has a decent margin over the other, he was asked whether he has been paying attention to his teammate’s issues.
As a response, Max Verstappen said, “The team must be working on that maybe, but you have to ask them. On Friday, of course, I was already busy getting the car better, so then I’m not going to think about that. It’s not my problem.” The Dutchman has clearly stated that he only focuses on his job and not anything else.
The 2023 Canadian Grand Prix is just a few hours away. Considering everything that Verstappen has said about his teammate, would Sergio Perez be able to overcome his issues in the Canadian GP and fight for the podium places? No matter what happens, the upcoming race is shaping up to be a must-see event.
