Savage Max Verstappen trolls his father Jos Verstappen for a humiliating aspect of the ex-Minardi driver’s F1 career
Much like his son, Jos Verstappen also drove in Formula One for several teams, but didn’t find the same success

Jos Verstappen and Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen mockingly called out an aspect of Jos Verstappen’s F1 career in his documentary. ‘Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion’ is a docu-series that showcases behind-the-scenes aspects of the life the Champion leads, which can be attributed to his immense success.
In an episode, Max makes a suggestion on installing a bathtub in the house, in response to which his father Jos playfully makes fun of himself, stating, “I already have trouble getting in and out!” Max quickly took the opportunity to mock his father, responding, “Luckily you’ve had a lot of practice getting out of cars!”
Like Max, his father Jos was also a Formula One driver, who drove for teams such as Benetton, Simtek, Footwork, Tyrrell, Stewart, Arrows, and Minardi. However, he cannot lay claim to the kind of success his son currently enjoys. He was known for the sheer frequency of his DNFs, which is something no driver wants to be subject to. He retired a total of 59 times out of 106 races. The two times world champion was trolling his father for the humiliating record he holds.
How good was Jos Verstappen in F1 compared to Max Verstappen?

Jos Verstappen may be the father of Champion Max. However, his career was subject to an entirely different path. He made 106 career starts, 59 of which resulted in retirements, a shocking stat for any driver. His career average finish was 12.22, which in the current system earns no points. In his 9-year-long career, Jos claimed minimal success, amassing a total of 17 career points. He also achieved only two podiums, along with setting zero fastest laps and zero pole positions to his name. Driving majorly for midfield teams, Verstappen called it quits on his career after a poor stint with backmarkers Minardi, being outperformed by his rookie teammate.
His son Max, however, has seen his career divulge in a contrary direction. One of the best talents the sport has ever witnessed, Max Verstappen is no stranger to victory and success. He showed immense potential early on, debuting at the ripe age of 17 for Toro Rosso. Also, the youngest driver to start a race to date, Max made a move to Red Bull in 2016, midseason, and took his first win in his first race for the team, a brilliant feat. Max competed fiercely and consistently in the following years, securing regular podiums and outperforming his teammates. In 2021, he halted the dominance of Sir Lewis Hamilton to win his first World Driver’s Championship in a year where he dominated the track. He showed no sign of stopping there and was determined to continue his success.
In 2022, he showed the world that the previous season was no fluke, and won the Championship a second time with races to spare. He was miles ahead of all the other drivers on the grid and was unbeatable. He now possesses 37 wins, 80 podiums (matching Ayrton Senna), 22 pole positions, and 22 fastest laps, astonishing figures for a driver aged 25. Max Verstappen’s career is going in the right direction under his father’s guidance. He may not have had a successful career, but he ensures his son enjoys one. He is always at his races, providing support and advice to the starlet, and his guidance is an aspect that Max is grateful for.
